Project Impact – Maharashtra
Beawar-transmission-4
Delivering 7,000 MW
to Maharashtra
Will bring ~7,000 MW of Power to Maharashtra

South Olpad-Boisar II transmission line of the project will bring in 7,000 MW of low-cost, renewable power from Gujarat to Maharashtra.

Will result in savings in electricity bills

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has already signed an agreement to purchase 5,000 MW of renewable power at a flat rate of Rs 2.7/ unit for a period of 25 years. South Olpad - Boisar II transmission line will bring this low-cost renewable power for Maharashtra. The low-cost renewable power brought through the project is expected to contribute to Rs 1.3-1.6/ unit saving in electricity bills.

Electricity Bills
Reducing
Government Subsidies
Reduced subsidy burden for the government

Low power purchase cost will also help lower financial burden on the state government by reducing the subsidy given for power purchase. Purchasing renewable power at lower than Rs 3/ unit can contribute in power purchase savings of Rs 62,000 crore over five-year period for the government.

Help Maharashtra transition towards clean energy

The project will transmit environment-friendly green power to Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which can help offset ~9,300 MT of CO2 emissions annually that are emitted by thermal power plants supplying power to MMR.

Eliminating
Power Outages
Eliminates risk of power outage

The transmission elements under Khavda IV C project will augment and strengthen the transmission network in Maharashtra to enable reliable power supply. This will eliminate power outages in MMR as well as peripheral areas in Thane and Palghar. After meeting the power requirements of MMR, residual power supply can be used to meet the demand in other parts of Maharashtra, benefiting the entire state. Further, Boisar II – Velgaon transmission line of the project will feed power to the upcoming Velgaon substation of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Corporation Ltd which is very crucial for power security of Mumbai city.

Aligned with Maharashtra’s vision of becoming a trillion dollar economy

The project is aligned with the Maharashtra government’s target to make the state a trillion-dollar economy as electricity will be a crucial component in driving growth of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) which is a backbone of Maharashtra’s economy. It will support various infrastructure and developmental projects, boost real estate sector, aid growth of data centres evolving in the Navi Mumbai area and help emerge MMR as a global economic hub. This will ultimately boost industrial growth, create indirect employment, and stimulate socio-economic growth of Maharashtra.
